Ruby walked along the shoreline, hair blowing around her face and sea spray splashing up her jeans. Her Black hoodie was zipped up tight and her scarf danced around in the gust, sometimes blowing clean into her face.
A lone Gull circled overhead, crying out to nobody in particular before swooping down to the water and flying off with it's catch. Glancing up, Ruby noticed the beach was empty apart from the last swaggers who were heading up the broadwalk, heading home to a nice family dinner no doubt.
Ruby sighed and continued walking. She wasn't really paying much attention to anything around her, lost inside her own thoughts.
Was it really possible that Simon's mother could force him to move away from here? From the place he had grown up? Yes this place was seasonal and the city had more jobs, but he was her best friend. Her lifeline. How would she survive without him? Sure she would be fine but she would miss his silly little quirks his mother was forever telling him to stop. The way her did an almost audible click with his tounge when something annoyed him, the way he constantly had bedhair, no matter how often he brushed it and most of all, the way he would light up whenever Ruby was around. She couldn't let it happen and she would try and reason with her father. Simon had to stay. Or she would leave to.
Ruby set her lips into a grim line, her mind was set and she would stick to her plan one way or another.
A sudden gust of wind blew her woollen hat off her head and it flew high into the sky before twirling and dancing off with the wind toward the ocean. She sighed again, though it didn't really bother her. She could always get another one.
A shrill ring came from her pocket and she pulled her cellphone out and checked the screen. Dad. Clicking Ignore she continued her walk, oblivious to the incoming tide and the fact she was already ankle deep in water.

The sound of birdsong filled the air. Although, it was more like Gull Cry. Salt tainted the air, the ocean waves crashing and foaming along the white sand. Footprints, barely visible after the water had passed over them, led the way down the beach. Following them, careful to keep her distance, a young, pale girl watched the red head. She wore nothing more than a plain white t-shirt and blue jeans. She had black combat boots, and a silver necklace.
As a gust of wind blew past her, she watched as the wollen hat the girl was wearing blew off, and out of reach. Sighing, Katty ran after it, grabbing it quickly when it had fallen into range. She turned to run after the red head after hearing the shrill rin of a cell phone. I'm so hungry... Thoughts whirled in her mind, mostly convincing herself she could drink without killing.
"Excuse me, is this yours?" She had finally reached the red head, breathing hard as if she had run quickly. "I saw it floating in the breeze, and you are the only person I see around." She lied. Her arms were shaking ith the effort of control. I can do this...

Lost in thought, Ruby didn't notice the girl come up behind her.
Excuse me, is this yours? I saw it floating in the breeze, and you are the only person I see around, she heard. Ruby's head snapped up and she gasped slightly in surprise. She really must pay more attention to what is going on around her, she scolded herself silently.
"Uh...Um, Yes, yes it is," she stuttered, completely taken by surprise, "Um, Thankyou. she said, taking the hat nervously from the girl.
Ruby looked down. This girl looked like any other girl but their was a strange auror around her and it made Ruby nervous. Concern crossed her face as she noticed the slight twitch the girl made, almost like fighting a silent battle with herself.
"Um, Im Ruby...Im not sure I've met you before..." Ruby started, anxiously avoiding the girls eyes. She never felt this unsettled before and she was worried. She's only giving you your hat back, Stupid. She thought to herself, yet she still rambled on, "And I have lived here basically my whole life. I don't think I've seen you at school or anything..." Ruby's voice trailed off quietly.
The girl hadn't answered and the silence made Ruby Nervous. She twisted the hat nervously between her fingers, avoiding eye contact with the strangely beautiful girl.

(Sorry my posts aren't like amazing like yours. ) Just stay casual. Keep the conversation going... She handed the hat back to the girl, watching as she seemed to become more nervous. Looking away, Katty closed her eyes, wishing she could turn around and find another solution. Unfortunatly, Human blood was the only thing that could keep her hunger away. She laughed to herself, hinking of the Vampire novel she had read. Vegetarian Vampires. If only it worked."Um, Im Ruby...Im not sure I've met you before...And I have lived here basically my whole life. I don't think I've seen you at school or anything..." She could feel Ruby's eyes watching her here and there. She sounded uneasy, and Katty wondered what she must seem like through the Human's eyes. She looked at the red head, her eyes searching for something more to discuss. Anything to ease the girl, and herself. "My name is Katty." Just answer her few questions. Maybe something will come up. Or maybe I can just leave, like any normal person would do. "I don't go to school here. Just in town to explore." It was the truth. Mostly. She smiled her most welcoming smile, hoping it was as convincing as it felt. She was still fighting with herself, so it made things much harder than they should seem.

Ruby watched the girl cautiously. So her name was Katty. It did cross Ruby's mind that it was a strange name. She wondered what it was short for...
"Oh, Im sure you'll find theres nothing really to explore here. Its pretty much a dead town out of season," Ruby laughed, "You really should come explore in summer youknow." She was starting to feel abit more relaxed and wondered why she had been so nervous on first meeting the girl. She was after all, only human.
"I could show you around if you like...Kaddie is it?" Ruby asked, frowning slightly, she really couldn't remember the girls name and she knew how rude that must make her look. "My friend Simon lives just down the road, we are meeting later to just chill if you wanted to join us?"
Ruby couldn't stop talking, it was if some invisable wall had broken and she was compelled and drawn to this girl. Something about her eyes were magical. The way she had walked, almost like she was floating. Ruby had to check behind her just to make sure she had made footprints in the sand.
The shrill shriek of her phone sounded again. It was Simon.
"Excuse me," She said answering her phone. The line went dead as soon as she said hello.
"That was strange," she whispered, concern entering her voice. She shrugged, he'd ring back. He always did. It was common knowledge she never had credit on her phone.
"So...where do you live?" Ruby asked, turning her attention back to the girl.

A dark haired girl in a rainbow colored swimsuit walked to the beach, quite bored and tired. She layed out a towel, and sat on it, the sand blowing in the wind. She grabbed some yellow and purple eyeshadow along with black eyeliner and mascara out of her bag she was carrying, and reapplayed it, looking at a mirror she had brought.
"Why does it have to be fall? The wind blowing sand is messing up my makeup and hurting my eyes." she thought to herself, as she put the stuff back in her bag. She zipped it up, and grabbed a beach vollyball.
"Anyone up for vollyball?" she asked, hitting the ball in the air and catching it.

After she was off the phone, Katty continued. "A dead town, huh?" She mused. Beside a beach, the town should have nice business during the Summer. "I don't really live anywhere. I from here, but after my parents died I have just been traveling around, seeing the world." It wasn't a lie. She had been traveling, especially since her parents had been killed.
Her attention snapped to the sound of a volleyball hitting the beach. Looking, she saw a girl in a rainbow-colored swimsuit. "Anyone up for volleyball?" She heard, just barely over he crashing of the waves and roar of the wind. She shrugged, and turned to Ruby. "We could go get your friend, Simon, then come play volleyball?" She suggested half-minded.
